Drawings Toy Animals (Again)

Sketchbook Drawing of Mom and Baby Teddy Bears by Artist Rachael Grad To keep up my art practice during the COVID-19 pandemic, and, frankly, to keep my sanity, I’ve returned to quick daily drawings in pencil on paper. So far I’ve drawn stuffed toy dogs, a mom and baby teddy bear hugging, a monkey, wind-up toy dog, penguin, mouse and more.  I haven’t been painting since my kids have been home from school for over 3 weeks.  My art studio has been taken over as the school and homework room.  Although I had several painting projects and commissions in process before all of the Toronto Coronavirus closures, it’s been hard to concentrate.  We live in a strange and scary time in Toronto, Canada and all around the world.  Often I feel as if I’m living in a science fiction story.  To keep sane and feel (somewhat) productive and creative, I started a new daily drawing project.  In 2015, I worked on a daily drawing project that lasted over 6 months.  During that time, I drew my child’s stuffed toy elephant, lion, and other toys.  Now I’ve been picking a different toy each day and trying to squeeze in a quick gesture drawing in pencil on paper.  Hopefully, the COVID-19 closures in Toronto elsewhere won’t last 6 months.  But in the meantime, I’m keeping very busy with my kids and this daily sketchbook project.  Please let me know if you have any requests for toy or stuffed animals drawings.  I’ll be adding drawings in pencil on paper to my Art Shop as time allows.  In the meantime, you can see newly available black and white sketches below.

Stay tuned for more updates on my Daily Drawing Project!

I'll be posting new original drawings of stuffed animals, toys and other objects around my house on this Art Blog and in my online Art Shop. Please stay healthy and positive during this difficult COVID-19 crisis.
