Quick Drawings on the Beach
Shown are some quick gesture drawings in pencil of people relaxing, reading and on their cellphones while on the beach. Back to basics in art while traveling! A pencil and sketchbook are much easier to take on a trip than an easel and painting art supplies.
Currently away in sunny Mexico on a family vacation. Not painting so far this holiday but I brought my sketchbook and pencil, which have come in handy on the beach.
While soaking in the sunshine and blue skies, I I’ve been doing some quick sketches of people on the beach. You can see people on their phones, texting and reading in my drawings. The occasional tourist still reads a hard copy book! The beautiful scenery including beach, sand, lounge chairs and beach huts are in the background behind my sketchbook.
The hot, humid Mexican climate is such a nice break from the rainy, cold weather in Toronto! Above are tourists lounging, tanning and relaxing on the beach. Shown below is a quick gesture drawing of a lifeguard. You can see the actual lifeguard and his station behind my sketchbook on the right side of the photo.
I’ll post more sketches and gesture drawings next week. Have a great weekend!
