Course Summary: Exploring Colour in Art — Mood, Space & Texture

Exploring Colour in Art: Mood, Space, and Texture is a six‑week drawing workshop designed to deepen your understanding of how colour shapes emotion, space, and visual impact. Led by Toronto artist Rachael Grad, this hands‑on course blends art history, colour theory, and practical drawing exercises to help students build confidence and fluency with coloured pencils.

Across weekly lectures, demonstrations, and guided studio time, you’ll study influential Canadian and international artists—from Van Gogh and Matisse to Morandi, Diebenkorn, Kusama, and more—while learning how they use colour, pattern, and texture to create expressive, harmonious compositions. Each class includes structured exercises, group discussion, and supportive critique.

By the end of the workshop, students will have a strong foundation in colour principles, spatial depth, texture techniques, and pattern design, along with a portfolio of exploratory drawings that reflect their growing artistic voice.

Perfect for: beginners, returning artists, and anyone looking to expand their creative skills through colour‑focused drawing.
