About the After the Plague Party Series
The After the Plague Party Painting Series explores themes of resilience and renewal after the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing inspiration from historic masterpieces commissioned after past plagues. Artworks from this series are loosely based on Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s Allegory of Good Government (1339) and influenced by Paolo Veronese’s The Marriage Feast at Cana (1562–1563).
Rachael Grad reimagines these classical compositions with a modern twist—replacing Renaissance figures with gestural brushstrokes, imaginary creatures, children’s toys, and personal elements. The dynamic black ink marks and fluid gestures create movement and energy, making this piece a striking statement for collectors of contemporary fine art.
