New Abstract Paintings

My new painting series titled "After the Plague Party" looks back to past artwork to find a way forward out of the COVID-19 pandemic. The artwork was inspired by The Marriage Feast at Cana (1562–1563) by Paolo Veronese and other monumental art that were commissioned after historic and memorable plagues. To form a new composition, I loosely painted from both personal and historical sources. As I painted, I changed the figures, added animals, my children’s toys, and imaginary creatures instead of Renaissance-clad people. The black ink on paper the brush marks are fluid and gestural.

This week at Toronto Outdoor Art Fair 62, I'll be showing new small paintings from the After the Plague Party series. Find me in Booth A13 in the middle of the art exhibition in Nathan Phillips Square, outside Toronto City Hall from Friday July 7th to Sunday July 9th, 2023.

I showed my first painting of the "After the Plague Party" painting at York in the BIND Art Show at Special Projects Gallery, York University last February 2023. Since then, I've created more large, medium and small "After the Plague Party" artworks. I use black ink, pencil, and acrylic paint on paper to make this artwork series. The small paintings will be on view this week in my booth at Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. Also on view, my "Motherhood Hit Me Like a Train" artworks on paper and "Mommy Mayhem" will be shown at TOAF62.   These artworks are still available for purchase.
