Toy Elephant May 2015, Pencil on Paper Drawing, 9″ x 12″, 2015

This week I reached over 100 days in a row of daily drawing! I started off drawing the same toy elephant every day. Then I tried adding drawings of other toy animals like carousel horses, stuffed toy lion, and stuffed toy turtle. But I keep coming back to drawing the toy elephant.

For over 100 days in a row I've made pencil on paper drawings, including the two shown here. I find that no matter how busy I am with work and other commitments, I can find 20 minutes a day to work on this drawing project. Even if exhausted at the end of the day, I draw before going to sleep. When my schedule allows I prefer to draw earlier in the day.

Drawing daily makes me consistently aware of and thinking about my artwork and art projects. Drawing every day has inspired me to get back to painting. Since early in my drawing projects a few months ago, I've been making acrylic paintings. Usually I paint the same subjects as the drawings: elephants and other toy animals.
